Tanga Region is one of the 26 regions of Tanzania. Its Regional
Headquarters is in Tanga District. According to the 2002 Tanzania
National Census, the region has a population of about 1,642,015 people.
The Regional Commissioner is Abdulaziz Mohamed.
Tanga Region has seven districts: Tanga, Muheza,
Korogwe, Lushoto, Pangani, Handeni and Kilindi.

Regional Background:
Tanga is situated in the north eastern Tanzania and it borders Kenya to
the north, the Indian Ocean to the east, Coast and Morogoro regions to
its south and Arusha and Kilimanjaro to its west and north west
respectively.
Some
places of interest include Amboni Caves, Galanos Sulphur Springs, the
Tangoni Ruins, Pangani and the Amani Plateau in the Usambara Mountains.
